Home of beautiful actress Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock is one of the biggest Hollywood stars of her generation, and she was one of the strongest contenders for America’s sweetheart in the 1990s. Her unconventional good looks, intelligence, talent and sense of humor have really given us a Hollywood star for all seasons, from drama to action to romantic comedies. It’s that latter category that Bullock may best be known for, and contributes to her reputation among guys as a chick flick actress.
One of her earliest lead roles was in that genre, 1992’s “Love Potion No. 9”, and although she broke through to superstardom in action movies like “Demolition Man” and “Speed”, her follow ups to those movies were romantic fare like “While You Were Sleeping” and “Two If By Sea”. Though of course, being a bankable box office commodity, she was sometimes cast in roles in high profile movies, like in “A Time To Kill” with Matthew McConaughey. But generally, her position as a big box office star meant that you could expect a romantic comedy or light hearted drama like “Practical Magic” or “Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” from her every year or two.
Her popularity placed her in the $10-15 million dollar club in terms of talent fee per movie, putting her in the Top 10, and it’s well-deserved. Three of the movies she’s been in have a lifetime domestic gross of over $100 million, and although two of those co-star hot Hollywood hunks (“Speed” and “A Time To Kill”), “Miss Congeniality” is all Sandra. “Two Weeks Notice” with Hugh Grant in 2002 nearly makes it there with $93 million, which really shows you why she’s the romantic comedy chick flick queen of her generation, with Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz probably being the only ones who can top her in that department and genre.
Recently she’s been trying to break out of her chick flick shell though, and she received rave reviews for her part in the ensemble “Crash”, which won the Oscar for best picture at the 2005 Academy Awards.
